Summer Activities

Happy Friday!  I wanted to post some of the Summer Activities that we have still be doing. Well,  I have to be honest - the last couple weeks have been so relaxed and non-demanding that Alyson hasn't even asked.  I think she is finally in  Summer chill mode - which is great - but school wont be too far behind:(  Such is life right?

But I still have some fun activities planned and many photos to share.

I believe this is activity #5.  For this one you will need...

  • Shaving Cream
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Food Coloring
  • Paper (I used printer paper)
  • eyeshadow is optional :)
I saw this posted on another blog and thought it would be fun.  Really anything involving shaving cream and art is fun.  So Alyson was excited.  Mind you this is after an afternoon at a local children't museum - she was chomping at the bit to get the activity going.  I knew this one would keep her entertained for a while.

I let Alyson put the food coloring on the shaving cream.  We used the bright colors.

Once there is enough food coloring - or once you have to finally grab the food coloring away from those little hands for fear of them using the entire bottle, take a knife, spoon, fork - whatever you choose, to swirl the shaving cream together.

After all is mixed (not too much because then it will just turn into brown muck - then take your piece of printer paper and place it on top of the shaving cream.  Press gently and then you will have this...

Set it aside to dry and then mix a little and keep on making these art pages.  Alyson loved it!  they came out really pretty too!

One thing that I knew would be fun is to let Alyson 'clean' the table with the shaving cream.  When I took away the cookie sheet I just sprayed her a bunch right onto the table (no food coloring) and let her play.  Kids love this.  It is a great teaching tool as well.  Little ones that are learning to write their letters can write them in the shaving cream - seriously they love it (teacher trick).  And  it smells fresh too:)

Alyson just played and that was fine by me:)

Hehe - love her!

That's all I have today - be back soon!
